Thank you for a site that gives me a range of retail prices for for a beautiful 1/2 carat round seemingly clear / flawless diamond I inherited.

I need GIA certification and tips on how to sell this gem. Any reputable diamond buyers in NYC you can recommend? What percentage of retail do I expect? If I have GIA certification, can I sell direct to buyers?

    Hi, Brewer.

I am glad that our web-service was helpful to you.

Our role is (1) to provide you with easy tools to compare diamond prices from reputable online retailers (2) and to provide you with direct link to the selected diamond page for further purchasing.

We do not buy diamonds and do not work yet with brick and mortar diamond retailers. And unfortunately can not recommend you one of them.

Try to ask your questions on one of these websites: http://www.diamondchitchat.com/, http://www.diamond.info/ or search “diamond buyers in NYC” on Google.

If any of your friends are planning purchasing engagement ring or other jewelry with diamonds for their loved ones — please tell them about our web-service.

    Thank you.
    Good luck!

    Brewer,

The diamond market is not nearly as efficient and liquid as, say, the stock market –market liquidity of the diamond market is pretty low. Typically, if you will decide to sell your diamond, you can expect to get 50-60% of the retail price. If your 0.5 carat stone is selling for, say, $2,000-3,000 by one of the online retailers, very likely jewelers will offer you $1,000 to $2,000.

    Good luck!
    Vadim
